35th Annual Murray's Mill Harvest Folk Festival @ Murray's Mill

The Murray’s Mill Harvest Folk Festival celebrates Catawba County’s agricultural heritage with an array of exhibits, craftsmen, and activities, including petting zoos, pony rides, antique cars, tractors and farm machinery, and traditional food preparations such as molasses making. Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel comprise the impressive band schedule, the Cockman Family hosting musicians and audience in the Murray’s Mill Amphitheater. Included in the ticket price ($5 at the gate) is a tour of the mill, whose original French burr millstones grind away producing bags of flour and cornmeal. Saturday 10A-5p & Sunday 1P-5P.

Celebrate the traditions of yesteryear on Burnsville’s historic Town Square. Festivities kick off with the antique car, tractor and truck parade. Heritage crafters demonstrate their skills with old-timey traditions, such as basket weaving, candle making, yarn spinning, corn shelling and more. Local old-time and bluegrass musicians and cloggers provide entertainment. Southern specialties, such as soup beans, cornbread, barbecue, sweet tea and lemonade, will be available.

The farm comes to the city at Hendersonville’s Annual Farm City Day, a celebration of Hendersonville’s rural traditions through introducing the urban population to agriculture. The day includes petting zoo, urban, rural and educational displays, antique and modern farm equipment, live music, food and concessions for sale, and crafters selling their wares, a special youth area with hands-on activities, old-timey demonstrations, a fishing pond and a wagon ride through the park.
